My receiver is the Sony STR--DH590, and this is the first receiver/5.1 setup I have ever had in my life, so I'm a total noob to this. So far, I've discovered that "PLII" Movie mode is the best for me as far as "Set it and forget it" is concerned, as I like what it does to the sound, and I like having upmixing on all non-surround content, which is quite nice. Best value for the money ever when you can get the sale at 350. Even at 450 it is worth it, can do 7.2, or 5.2.2, works for Dolby Vision and pairs up well with the inexpensive Sony 4k blu ray players like the 700/m or 800m/2. Super simple on the back (unlike my previous onkyo) and has decent Bluetooth for the tablets/phones.The manual says the receiver works best with 8 ohm speakers. (8 ohm speakers will measure as 6.5-7.5 ohms on a meter anyway) and I have been up to 54-57DB out of 60DB for hours and the receiver stayed room temperature.
