Baileys has some good German made carlton bars for $30 that are pretty good IME. Personally I'd rather get deals on bars that are of decent quality. If you break it, bend it, etc, it's not a big deal. If you drop $100+ on a bar, it is a big deal.Husky 550XP is a good saw but Husqvarna is having issues with supplying parts. Echo makes a good saw as well, believe the 4910 is still available but that saw really needs muffler work to realize it’s full potential. The echos are hard to beat for the price. You can: 1) learn to sharpen your self (lots of different ways); 2) pay someone to sharpen your chains; or 3) replace them when dull. I believe that on this site, the order above would reflect the preference of most members. Some will go as far as custom modifying their chains.
1&1 on the carb. Idle = 2800. Max = 12500. Idle speed + Spec / lean drop off = 3300. Start saw up at 1&1 and turn idle so it's 2800rpm. once warm turn idle to 3300 and then move to L screw slowly turning in and out. It has been dead reliable and works great with a 16-18" bar. The 645 is Solo's "mid level" saw. It is a way better saw than the normal box store junk, but not quite on par with the pro saws from stihl/husky. Solo dealers are few and far between but parts can be had online at solousa.com. Well ...That saw was last produced around 2008 and represents the last actual pro model saw that Poulan ever produced. It is 54cc and far superior to anything else built in that class such as MS290 and 455 Rancher. It has split cases, adjustable oiler, and very solid construction.
